Home is supposed to be the place where we feel safe. But it is also where we are left alone with ourselves, with no distance and no witnesses.
Over these years, we spent more time at home than ever before. First because the world suddenly shut down, then because of news you can't hide from behind a closed door. The familiar rooms grew more and more confining.
In these photographs, emotions and anxious thoughts appear as light. It transforms the space and the people within it. Comfort turns into a trap, where fears and desires creep in close.
The people in these rooms want something, plan something, doubt something, and often all of it at once.
I set out to find where this inner restlessness comes from. It turned out to be within us, and no walls can protect us from ourselves.
